My Computer, the Trouble and Its Solution
« on: February 11, 2009, 08:30:38 PM »

A few days ago i had trouble with my computer. There was something that blocked my antivirus update mechanism to internet. Then i tricked the blocking by using proxy so i could update the antivirus and thanks God it ran successfully. Once it had been updated, the updated anti virus informed me that my computer was infected by a trojan. But the bad news was even the anti virus could recognize the trojan's name, it could not handle it and the trojan was still in the computer. So i decided to change the anti virus with Kapersky. After i uninstalled the old anti virus, i was starting to install the Kapersky and suddenly something terrible happened on my computer, every time i tried to login to system it appeared a blue screen message which told me that there as a hardware conflict happened on my computer and it forced my operating system to restart. And it had happened every time i tried to login into the system. I also had tried to login into the system via Safe Mode and again it failed.

So i decided to refreshing my computer by re-format and re-install the new operating system, but then i remember that there were some documents that i stored in my dekstop folder and in some other folders in my main drive (C drive). I need to save it into a save place, then it came some ideas through my mind that i could save it by using other operating system mechanism (like Live CD) to access to the data to recover them to the safe place. But again, my next problem was my lovely DVDRW Super Multi couldn't read any CD ROM anymore. What a sad experience since (as far as i know) nearly all Live CD are available on CD.

We can say there is nearly no computer related problem especially for software one that cannot be solved in this world. I then heard there was a new operating system mechanism that could be run from USB stick as long as the computer supporting the booting from it and i believe nearly all modern computer supported it now and my computer is one of them :P .

I tried it and it worked and finally i saved all my valuable data into the safe place and i ready to install the refreshed operating system.
Hahahaha...

Note: i wrote this article from the Win XP Live USB operating system using WordPad application :-)

I wanna install it (kapersky antivirus) by i could not longer find any working key to activate it :p. The current keys available on a site (illegal one and i cannot expose it here :p) do not work anymore so i am back to use the "cute" free AVG 8.0.

I do believe most of brand new computer supported the booting from USB. But if it doesn't, i think there is no other choice to fix the problem unless by back to traditional way (plug out the harddisk and attach it onto other computer).

In some "advance" situation and troubleshooting, with a proper Network Environment installed and configured, we can try to boot from Network Interface Card (NIC).

As far as i know, there's so many "new released" computer either notebook or desktop PC are distributed with ROM in their NIC on board. My notebook (IBM Thinkpad T43--released on 2005) has one.

But, please note. This solution should work if only we have a Network Environment installed and configured properly. Otherwise, traditional way will be a last choice...

About the anti virus, i have Trend Micro installed on my computer (Corporate Licensed), but i prefer to use Symantec instead...no reason, i just like it :D

What a long description about your computer trouble. But that's good to improve your writing skill. Anyway I also had that experience and I remember I ever asked the solution about it to you. But pity me, you only said "scan the virus" then I did it but it didn't work well.. since I'm stupid enough dealing with computer's things, and  I don't want to be  confused so I gave it to my technician...and it's finish ....hahahha...

No you did not (having the same experience as mine). Your problem (i mean the problem on your computer  :P ) was your YM (Yahoo Messenger) shown a vietnamese words on its status (i forgot the exact words) and based on the research that i did on google, the appeared symptom meant that your computer had been infected by an "evil" program.
Apologize i could not help you, because i was kinda busy at that time
